Shape Matching #1

This game is used for Weeks 1 and 2 in The Memory Drawing Course Book. It helps you make the most of every glance.

Below you will see what looks like a shape matching game. And it is – but with a difference. In the traditional game you will only have seen all of the card faces as you near completion. This means that during the first half of the game you’re making blind guesses. That’s not only unfair, it also hinders your memory training.

Instead, for this game your first step is to view all the cards for a period of time. Only after that, and you’ve made your initial match attempt, does the game’s timer actually begin.

Note that you might need to resize your browser’s window in order to see all of the cards on the screen at once.

Spend the next few minutes playing the game numerous times.

To play:

  1. Click on the ‘Show Cards’ button below. You will be shown all the cards for 8 seconds. When the 8 seconds is up, the cards will hide.
  2. At that point you can begin attempting matches. With each failed matching attempt your memory will in effect get another peek at the incorrectly match cards.
  3. Once finished, click on the ‘Reset’ button which will shuffle the cards anew.
  4. Click on the ‘Show Cards’ button again to begin another game.

‘Winning’ the game is completing the matches in the least amount of time and with the fewest match attempts.
